Evan + Emma: A Yosemite View Sunrise Proposal

Evan first reached out to me in December, about a month before he planned to propose to his (then) girlfriend Emma. They were visiting Yosemite for a few days from the East Coast. Their itinerary included hiking Upper Yosemite Falls Trail, a stay at the Ahwahnee, and, unbeknownst to Emma at the start of their trip: a surprise proposal at Tunnel View!

Leading up to the big day, I assisted Evan in picking the perfect location and in planning outfits for himself and Emma. The day of, I arrived about thirty minutes before sunset and sat near the proposal spot to enjoy the view. Once they arrived, I continued admiring the early morning glow as hawks and ravens circled the sky above.

As the sun neared the top of Half Dome, Evan asked if I wouldn't mind taking their photo with his phone (this was all part of the plan!). Of course I obliged and snapped a few photos for them. Just a moment after I handed the phone back he got down on one knee and I started snapping away!

The proposal was so sweet and Yosemite Valley, with El Capitan, Half Dome, and Bridalveil Fall standing tall made for the perfect backdrop.

Following the proposal, we made our way down to the Cook's Meadow Loop to frolick and take a few photos at the Yosemite Valley Chapel. The last stop on my adventure with the newly-engaged couple was at El Capitan Meadow.
